VOTERS will go to the polls next Tuesday for the Areley Kings and Riverside ward district council election.

The election was due to take place on Thursday, May 7, but was postponed following the death of one of the candidates. The election for councillors for the Areley Kings East ward of Stourport-on-Severn Town Council will also be held on this day.

There are three vacant Wyre Forest District Council seats and three vacant town council seats. Polling stations are at Areley Kings Village Hall and Stourport Workmen’s Club, in Lickhill Road. They will open between 7am and 10pm on Tuesday, June 9. Voters should check their poll cards to find out which polling station they should use.

The district council is urging all registered electors to use their vote.

Ian Miller, returning officer for Wyre Forest, said: “There are more than 6,600 people on the electoral register in the Areley Kings and Riverside ward and we really hope as many people as possible will use their vote.

“14.2 per cent of these have chosen to vote by post. All of the postal voters should now have received their ballot papers.

“Thank you to everyone who has already voted and posted them back to us.

“If you don’t manage to get your postal vote in time to reach us by Tuesday, June 9, you can always take it to your polling station or Wyre Forest House, in Finepoint Way, until 10pm on election day.”
