DEDICATED knitters from a Bewdley group took part in a sponsored ‘sew-in’ to create blankets to be donated to a hospital in Ethiopia.
All Saints’ Knit & Natter completed an impressive 14 blankets in just five hours for the Kidderminster branch of Soroptimists.
The charity supports the Hemlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia by providing knitted blankets for mothers and their new born babies.
The Knit & Natter group had accumulated a large number of squares and decided to have a sponsored 'sew-in' to make up the blankets.
On the day, 25 women turned up and were joined by Linda Cocksedge and Stephanie Ainsley from Kidderminster Soroptimists to complete the challenge.
They also raised money from sponsorship including generous donations from Kidderminster Soroptimists, to buy more wool for their use in making a variety of knitted items for the many charities they support.
