TOP London dancers put scores of talented children and young people through their paces at a unique workshop held in Stourport on Sunday (September 27).

The ninety-minute classes were led by ZooNation Dance Company performers Anthony Trahearn and Rowen Hawkins along with choreographer Jack Pointer MacKenzie, who also teaches at the world famous Pineapple Studio.

The trio – who have worked with leading artists including JLS, The Saturdays, Katy Perry and Girls Aloud – focused on hip hop, urban commercial and hip hop breakin’ fusion during the event at Stourport Civic Hall.

Entitled Urban Explosion, it was organised by Kidderminster-based theatrical charity Limelight and is set to become an annual event.

Members from dance schools throughout Wyre Forest and further afield, including Splinters, Step by Step and Harlequin, took part.

Choreographer Jane Bennett, who persuaded the three dancers to run the workshop, said: “We wanted to offer dancers in Wyre Forest the sort of experience normally confined to London.

“It was the first event of its kind in the area and the three teachers were fantastic.

“We hope it will go from strength to strength and it was great to see schools from outside Wyre Forest help make the day the success it was.”
