A BAYTON primary school parent and teacher association raised more than £2,500 for Acorns Children’s Hospice by organising a promise auction.

Bayton CE Primary School’s PTA organised the promise auction, which was held at Stourport Manor Hotel in September.

The auction had more than 100 lots donated by local businesses up for grabs, including meals and days out, plus a donation from further afield, a weekend hotel break in Gibraltar.

Chloe Davis also performed at the event, as well as guest speakers from Acorns.

The evening raised a total of £5,356 – which would be split equally between the school and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Acorns Children’s Hospice offers a network of care and support to life-limited and life-threatened children and their families.

Avis Pounder, headteacher, said: “We are so grateful for the hard work and time the PTA have put in to this event and we are overwhelmed by the generosity by all that attended and donated.

“The school children have discussed how they would like the money raised to be spend and it was decided that a new balance beam trail is to be added to our already established wooden play area.

“We have also invested in more bikes and scooters for the reception class.”
