CELEBRATING 20 years, there will be Bleeding Hearts of hometown fans at a Kidderminster venue when a local band returns to their roots to drink up to their anniversary.

Starting out in 1995 as a duo featuring just vocals, an acoustic guitar and a bass guitar, Bleeding Hearts set off playing gigs and the odd folk club. But, over the years the line-up expanded and the sound grew; it gained a grittier, rawer edge when drums, mandolin and the fiddle were added in to the mix.

Since then, Bleeding Hearts have written eight albums of their own music, toured the UK, Europe, and North America, playing to crowds upwards of 10,000 and shared the stage with big names, such as Shane MacGowan and The Pogues, Levellers, Chumbawamba, Oysterband, The Darkness, Bloodhound Gang, and more.

The band, who decided to do it themselves after a short, and "bitter", stint with a 90s indie label, have sold thousands of records and will be celebrating reaching their 20 year-milestone with a gig at The Boars Head, in Worcester Street, on Saturday. The band will be joined on stage on the night by long time friends Mark ‘madfiddler’ Knight, Paul Rodgers (percussion), and Nige Joiner (guitar), who have all helped the band out over the years at gigs and on recordings.

Doors open at 8pm on the night.
