A BUSINESSMAN has organised a huge summer event in a Kidderminster park to replace the now defunct town carnival.

Brinton’s Bash will be held at Brinton’s Park on June 4 from 12noon to 9pm and feature a host of entertainers, activities, bouncy castles and a funfair.

The event is the brainchild of David Griffin, who runs Quads N Castles that hire out bouncy castles, Velcro walls, children’s quad bikes and rodeo bulls for events.

He said he wanted to put a big community event on in the town following the demise of Kidderminster Carnival, which held its last show in 2014.

To date, he has signed up Kidderminster band Blind Lemon, Andrew Healy magic show, graffiti artist Niall Ryan and ‘Elsa’ from the Frozen movie to appear at the event.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy donkey rides, falconry displays, a dunk tank, balloon modelling, displays from a dance school, a host of stalls and a variety of different food.

And Mr Griffin added he was still in negotiations to sign up more performers and attractions to appear on the day.

He said: “With the carnival coming to an end, I am determined to put on a huge event that people will enjoy. I hope that it will become a fixture in people’s calendars.

“I am 46-years-old and I used to love going to Kidderminster Carnival every year. Those events gave me some brilliant memories. So now I want to see children doing what I did as a youngster and creating their own memories.

“Another big thing for me is to keep the prices down. There are so many families in Kidderminster on low income and days like this can cost a lot of money.

“But, I’m keeping the charges for businesses wishing to appear at the event down with the caveat that they keep their prices for visitors cheap.

“I have already had a great response from people wishing to appear at the event while I am also contacting as many different performers and attractions to make sure there is a variety on offer.

“A number of people have already confirmed they will be there, which I am delighted about, while we will have all our attractions on offer too.

“I want this to be an event to remember.”

Mr Griffin added that he was still looking for sponsorship, volunteers and anyone wanting to appear at Brinton’s Bash. Anyone interested can contact him on 07799 063021 or by email hire@quadsncastles.co.uk
