A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital after a crash in Kidderminster this afternoon (September 19).

West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police were called to Stourport Road, at the junction of Lisle Avenue, at around 2pm following a crash between a white Fiat van and a black Honda motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, suffered a broken leg and was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. 

A spokesman from WMAS said: "The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and leathers. He had no loss of consciousness but had suffered a broken lower left leg.

"He was given pain relief before being immobilised and having his leg splinted. He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

"The van driver was uninjured, but shaken by what had happened. The driver was discharged at the scene.

"Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene. We were told that a passing doctor also stopped to offer assistance."

A West Mercia Police spokesman added that the road was temporarily closed and reopened by 3pm.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call West Mercia Police officers on 101, quoting incident reference number 382S of September 19.
