THE finishing touches are being put in place for a Community Showcase event for people to learn all about the community groups and organisations based in Bewdley.

The free event, which has been organised by Bewdley Town Council, will take place at St George's Hall on Saturday (April 8), between 10am and 3pm.

Event organisers hope to inform residents and visitors to the town what community groups and organisations are available in Bewdley and what they do - and hopefully recruit new members and volunteers.

Councillor John Beeson, the Mayor of Bewdley, said: "It is fantastic that all of Bewdley's volunteer groups will be showing off what they get up to.

"The one thing that has struck me as mayor is the amount of time people give up to help the local community and the amount of community groups we have.

"I am also proud that it is the town council that has taken the lead on this project with the support of St George's Hall."

Groups involved in the event include Bewdley Rotary Club, Bewdley Stroke Group, Bewdley Civic Society and Severn Area Rescue Association. West Mercia Police and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service will also take part in the event.

Kyle Daisley, community engagement and events officer for Bewdley Town Council, added: "It is really for the groups to explain to people and visitors what they do and who they are.

"There are so many groups and organisations in Bewdley, doing different things – this event will bring everyone together.

"I hope the event gives a real community boost – everyone gets to showcase their work."
