VOLUNTARY and community groups from Bewdley will be highlighting the services they offer in a free event in the town this weekend.

For the second year running, the Town Council and St George’s Hall are hosting a Community Showcase event in Bewdley.

The free event will take place at St George's Hall on Saturday, April 7, between 10am and 3pm.

Event organisers hope to inform residents and visitors to the town about the range of services and opportunities provided by community and voluntary groups in Bewdley - and hopefully recruit new members and volunteers.

Councillor Anna Coleman, The Mayor of Bewdley, said: "It is fantastic that all of Bewdley's volunteer groups will have the opportunity to show people what they do.

"As Mayor, I have been truly inspired by the amount of time people give up to help the local community and the number of community groups we have in Bewdley.

"I am also proud that it is the Town Council that has taken the lead once again on this project with the support of St George's Hall."

Groups involved in the event include Bewdley Concert Band, Bewdley Civic Society, Community Transport and Bewdley Town Football Club. West Mercia Police and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service will also take part in the event.

Kyle Daisley, community engagement and events officer for Bewdley Town Council, added: “Due to the success of last year’s event, it is great that we are able to put it on again.

“I would urge all residents and visitors to pay a visit as it is free and you may even walk out with a new hobby or interest”.
