A MAP highlighting top places for walking and cycling in Wyre Forest has been relaunched.

Worcestershire County Council has produced the map, which features bridleways, footpaths, and pedestrian crossings, as well as on and off-road cycle routes in Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourport.

It also gives information on walking and cycling times between the three towns and the location of cycle parking areas.

Places of interest include Severn Valley Railway, West Midland Safari Park, Stourport Basins and Bewdley Museum and Tourist Information Centre.

Conservative councillor, Derek Prodger, the county council's cabinet member for environment, said: "We are trying to encourage more people to walk and cycle and, to do this, they need information that allows them to plan their routes properly.

"The map also highlights other key areas of interest, such as health care centres, hotels, supermarkets and sports facilities."

Christina Attwood, health development co-ordinator for Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, said: "Walking and cycling are both excellent ways to build the recommended 30 minutes of activity a day into our busy lives and walking and cycling are also recommended for short journeys under a mile and are a great way to beat the traffic.

"We would encourage people to use the map to get their 30 minutes of activity."

The map is one of several to have been produced by the county council. Others include similar maps for Malvern, Bromsgrove and Worcester and two specific cycle route maps, one from Bewdley to Bridgnorth and the other from Worcester to Pershore.
