AN 84-year-old woman suffered a broken ankle after being the victim of a hit-and-run in a country lane.
The woman was run down by a youth on a scooter as she walked along Low Lane, Wolverley, at 1.30pm, on Friday.
She was struck from behind and knocked to the ground but the offender made no effort to help her, climbed back on his moped and drove off along the lane.
The pensioner was eventually helped by a female car driver who stopped when she saw the woman lying in the lane.
Emergency services were called and the injured lady was taken to Kidderminster Hospital and then transferred to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where she was treated for a fractured ankle. She was later allowed home.
Police are urging witnesses or people with information about the incident to contact 08457 444888.
