A BUS collided with a Bewdley house as the driver tried to manoeuvre down a narrow road, leaving a woman "frightened to death."

Philip Mansell, of Welch Gate, said the incident happened on Monday, when the number two Whittle bus hit his living room window at 6.40pm.

He added: "I was not in the property at the time. My wife was in the house with my son and daughter.

"My wife was in the kitchen when she heard a big bang, which frightened her to death.

"There were two buses on opposite sides of the road. They both mounted the pavement to pass each other and that is when one of the buses hit my window. The driver stopped and was very apologetic."

He added: "The problem is that the road in Welch Gate is too narrow. I'm fed up with it.

"The bus has dislodged the window, damaged the window sill and cracked the glass.

"We are always complaining that Worcestershire County Council need to do something about the road but they have taken no notice."

The 52-year-old's property was also hit by a lorry 18 years ago, when he had to have his window replaced.

He added: "I'm worried about safety. My fear is that someone is going to get killed."

Neil Jones, bus co-ordinator at Whittle Coach and Bus Limited, said: "The matter is under investigation. At this stage we have no further comment."

A spokesman for the county council said: "We have had no complaints about the road on Welch Gate being too narrow for buses and had no reports that it is a problem.

"Welch Gate has been a regular road for bus services.

"The number two bus is a commercial service and it is up to the bus company to re-route it."
