A FOOTBALL fan has been banned from games across the country after attacking a man on match day.

The attack happened on the day of a Championship clash between Birmingham City and Stoke City at St Andrew's Stadium on August 14, 2021.

The 33-year-old was amongst a small group of Blues fans when the assault happened on Witton Street.

He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Friday, January 7, 2022.

A football banning order was made against Ingram, barring him from attending any football matches in the UK that are regulated for the purposes of the Football Spectators Act 1989 - for six years.

As part of the order, he must not enter any town or city, as defined by the relevant town or city boundary limits, where Birmingham City or the England National Team are playing an away football match, three hours before kick-off, during the match and three hours after the final whistle.

This is apart from in the case of London, Birmingham or Manchester, where the defined area shall be a radius of five miles from the centre circle of the ground of where that fixture is played.

He is not to go within a highlighted area of any Birmingham City Home fixture, three hours before kick-off, during the match and three hours after the final whistle.

He was also ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation, costs of £185, and a £128 victim surcharge.

The defendant's guilty plea was considered when the sentence was imposed.
