STUDENTS at a Bewdley school will go back to studying from home following an outbreak of Covid.

The Bewdley School has made the decision to move one year group per day to online learning this week.

The school has confirmed 12 per cent of teachers are self-isolating due to the virus.

A post on The Bewdley School Facebook page said: "We again find ourselves in extremely challenging circumstances as a consequence of the COVID pandemic. Over the last 2 weeks we have consistently had 5% of our student population self-isolating with COVID.

"This has now passed into our staff body, and as of today we have 12% of teachers self-isolating due to COVID, with supply agencies being unable to meet our cover needs, as so many schools are in a similar position.

"As we did before Christmas, we are therefore taking the difficult decision to move one year group per day to online learning, to make staffing lessons in school manageable.

The school has confirmed that this week, year groups will work from home and have online lessons using this rota: Tuesday 25th January: Year 10, Wednesday 26th January: Year 9, Thursday 27th January: Year 8, Friday 28th January: Year 7.

The post added: "Students are required to follow their normal timetable and log on via Microsoft Teams to participate in their lessons. Due to Year Groups being out for only one day, we are unable to provide technology for students. If students do not have access to technology they will be provided with a workbook to complete at home.

"We will review the situation during the course of the week, and let you know our plans for next week as early as we are able."
