TWO birdwatching sisters from Kidderminster were delighted when they spotted a rare white sparrow.
The rarely sighted bird was seen in Sue Bonner’s garden in Cotswold Close and snapped by her visiting sister Mandy Bonner.
Mandy said she fills up her disabled sister’s bird feeder regularly and they were both excited when the young bird flew into the garden with its parent on Tuesday (July 26).
Mandy, who takes photos of birds, said: “It’s amazing – it’s a little wildlife haven around there.
“I’ve never seen anything like it before.
“It wasn’t an albino – it was leucistic. They still have brown eyes.
“I’ve watched birds for years and because the parent was an ordinary sparrow and it was feeding this baby, I knew straight away it was a rare one.
“I have usually got a long lens camera and yesterday I only had my phone.
“I was really excited”.
