MOURNERS came together to say a final farewell to a "proud" great-great-grandmother described as the "heart of her family."

A horse-drawn carriage and limousines made their way to St James' Church in Hartlebury where a funeral was held for Jackaline Jones today (Tuesday, November 29).

The 84-year-old was the mother of nine children and had 31 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She passed away on November 13 following a long battle with cancer.

A bagpiper performed the Welsh national anthem outside Mrs Jones' home, at Lower Heath Caravan Park off Watery Lane, before family members made their way to the church.

Mourners entered the church to the White Rose of Athens by Nana Mouskouri, a song selected by Thomas Jones, her husband of 66 years.

Others songs played at the funeral included Jealous of the Angels by Donna Taggart, Sweeter than the Flowers by Slim Whitman, and Love Me by Collin Raye. Life is a River by Derek Ryan was played as closing music.

Following the funeral, a burial service was held at St Mary's Church at Crossway Green.

A bagpiper performed the Welsh national anthem again whilst the family walked to Mrs Jones' final resting place.

The Jones family described the late great-great-grandmother as the "heart of her family".

Paying tribute, they said: "She was the last of her generation - the last of her era.

"She was a very holy lady and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ".
