THOSE with a passion for big cats can now apply to become lion and tiger keepers at West Midland Safari Park.

The Bewdley attraction has a range of new jobs on offer, including two carnivore keeper roles.

Keepers would be responsible for looking after lions, tigers, African wild dogs, cheetahs and dholes.

There is a basic keeper role up for grabs with a salary of £21,294 and a senior role with a salary of £21,830.

The basic keeper role involves delivering daily husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning, health monitoring, animal training and enclosure maintenance.

The job advert said: "The role requires someone who is confident, motivated and enthusiastic about wildlife conservation and has excellent communication skills.

"You will have gained an animal-related qualification HND level or above or have successfully completed the DMZAA. Ideally, we are looking for someone with previous experience in a zoological collection, although full training will be given".

The job advert for the senior role said: "The ideal candidate will have previous experience of supervising a team, you will be confident, motivated and approachable with a good understanding of animal husbandry and have relevant experience working with carnivore species.

"You will hold an Animal Management qualification, have successfully completed the DMZAA and due to driving in animal-restricted areas, possess a full, valid Driving Licence".

The jobs' perks include an annual safari park pass, which provides the staff member and family with free admission and theme park wristbands, as well as free entry to the sister site Drayton Manor Park.

There's also a 35 per cent discount for retail and catering outlets and off-park special events.
