Police have issued a warning to Worcestershire residents to keep their homes safe this winter.
West Mercia Police have provided some helpful tips to protect properties and valuables from burglars during the darker nights.
They said criminals find it easier to operate under the cover of night and embrace the longer hours of darkness making it more likely for people to fall victim to crime.
Head of prevention at West Mercia Police, Superintendent Edward Hancox, said: “Speak to your neighbours, family or friends if you intend to stay away from your home for a night or more.
“Ask them to keep an eye on your property, push letters through your letter box and bring in parcels that are left on your doorstep.
“Don’t make it obvious that nobody is home.”
