THE Wyre Forest was transformed into a festive haven as South Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind (SWWMind) hosted its Mental Elf Fun Run 2023.

The event, which was held on Sunday, aimed to promote awareness for better mental health, saw an incredible turnout of supporters, all donned in a spectacular variety of elf and Santa costumes, with even the Grinch and a penguin making a special appearance.

The 5k fun run, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Wyre Forest, created a jubilant atmosphere as participants braved the cold and came together to celebrate, exercise, and recognise the importance of mental wellbeing.

The event, which saw around 100 people attend, would not have been possible without the invaluable support of VIP Fitness – Personal Training, who not only served as the event sponsor but also led the lively warm-up session for the spirited elves.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "SWWMind extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the organisations who generously sponsored the event, contributing to its success and enabling the organisation to continue its vital work in mental wellbeing services across the county, which include a 24-hour crisis line, Safe Haven evening support until 1 am, and peer support groups in Kidderminster and across Worcestershire.

"Participants, volunteers, staff and sponsors alike played a crucial role in making the Mental Elf Fun Run a resounding success, for which SWWMind expresses its huge appreciation.

"As SWWMind continues its mission to provide essential mental health services, events like the Mental Elf Fun Run serve as not only a source of funds but also as a powerful reminder of the community's commitment to supporting mental wellbeing.

"The organisation looks forward to future events that bring people together for a common cause and foster a culture of understanding and compassion surrounding mental health".
