HUNDREDS of people gathered at Brinton Park in Kidderminster to take part in the annual KEMP Santa Fun Run.

The popular festive run helps to raise vital funds for the Kidderminster-based charity.

The event saw over 200 supporters brave the cold to raise thousands of pounds in aid of KEMP’s care and support services for the Wyre Forest community.

The Santa Fun Run, which was held on Sunday, December 3, has raised over £10,000 for KEMP Hospice, with donations still coming in thanks to the efforts of everyone who took part.

Vicki Wotton-Champion, KEMP Hospice fundraiser and event organiser, said: “The Santa Fun Run has become one of our most popular events each year, and once again we are absolutely thrilled to see so many Santa’s taking part.

"It was a freezing cold morning, so we were overwhelmed to see so many people turn up in support of KEMP Hospice.”

After a light snowfall overnight, the KEMP team were on site first thing to check the course, ensuring the event was still safe for everyone to take part.

Once approved, it was all systems go with host Dicky Dodd once again bringing the festive fun, and the team from The Gym Group Kidderminster to get everyone warmed up before each race began.

Vicki added: “We are so grateful to everyone who supports the event. We can’t host the event without the support of local companies and the volunteers. Event sponsors Talbots Law, Kidderminster and Trueline Products have each been a fantastic support, helping us to raise the profile of the event. This is a key event in our calendar each year.

"Every penny raised makes a huge difference to KEMP and will help to ensure we can continue to be there for the Wyre Forest Community now and in the future.”

Plans are already in motion for the 2024 event so keep checking KEMP’s website for updates www.kemphospice.org.uk.
