A KIND-HEARTED fundraiser will be slowing down after raising more than £30,000 for charities over the last 12 years.

Kidderminster’s Rob Stride has supported numerous good causes and will not give up completely but intends to commit more time to volunteering with charity HELP which supports the homeless and others in need across Wyre Forest.

One of the 37-year-old’s events last month raised £2,500 for Ward 10 at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, which is for neurosurgery, and the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust with Barclays also contributing £1,000 to each.

The quiz, auction, raffle, bingo and music from Stourport’s The Test Pilots at Kidderminster Harriers Football Club’s Aggborough Suite proved popular.

Rob said: “Over the last 12 years I have been fundraising for many charities and raised over £30,000.

“These charities include Macmillan, KEMP Hospice, MND, Wolfram Syndrome Uk, Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Ward 10 and for various individuals who have needed help.

“For the last seven years Birmingham Children’s Hospital Ward 10 has been very much the heart of my fundraising and this is inspired by a close friend of mine Wayne Talbot whose son Lennon Talbot was treated on the ward for a long time and then sadly lost his life at a young age.

“I was inspired that Wayne and his family wanted to carry on helping the ward even after the most tragic of circumstances.

“This made me want to include the ward on my fundraising journey.

“This has now coincided with supporting Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust in Worcester which has a truly inspiring back story and helps with bereaved families of those who have lost their children.

“Some of the highlights have been being involved in the KEMPfest music festival for Kemp Hospice, a charity match against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC legends versus my Sunday football team Peacock Wanderers and the yearly quiz and variety nights at Kidderminster Harriers FC.

“I am announcing an event for August soon but I will be slowing down as I focus on volunteering for local charity HELP.

“I would mostly like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has continued to support me over the last 12 years, to everyone who has donated money and prizes and especially to those who have supported everything I do.

“It really is appreciated and I literally couldn’t have done it without you. And thanks to the charities and families who have trusted me to raise money for them.”
