A secondary school in Kidderminster has started work on a brand-new £1 million development scheme.

Wolverley CE Secondary School are in the process of creating a large-scale football pitch and changing room on the Blakeshall Lane site that will help benefit the local community for years to come.

The work will create multiple grass football pitches and level the currently usable green space to provide quality playing facilities for young people in the area.

The team are also embarking on another building programme to create a changing room pavilion for partner football club, Kidderminster Lion FC, as well as the 950 students who attend the school.

We are delighted that our skilled contractors are now on site and creating these fantastic new facilities that will benefit local people for many years to come."

On March 1, MP Mark Garnier was invited to view the progress of the work alongside representatives from Kidderminster Lions FC, project managers from Raise Partnership and a pitch contractor from Carrick Sports.

The work is being jointly funded by The Football Foundation, Worcestershire County Council and The Garfield Weston Foundation and will be ready to use by November 2024.

Mr Derrer added: "Thank you to The Football Foundation and Worcestershire County Council for supporting our scheme and thanks to Mr Garnier MP for attending and supporting the school in its ongoing developments."
