An antique shop owner from Kidderminster is set to make her TV debut after being invited to share her quirky item on a hit BBC One show.

Sharon O'Loughlin, also affectionately known as "Money Penny", was asked to appear on The Bidding Room after the production team were impressed by a unique item she had for sale online.

Ms O'Loughlin, who owns MoneyPenny SJ Vintage and has a unit at Caldicott's in Stourport, was completely shocked but drove six hours to Edinburgh in May 2022 for filming.

The 58-year-old said: "I started my career in the corporate world but realised that I wanted a bit more out of life. I moved into selling paperweights before opening up my antique business which has grown massively over the years.

"I work really hard seven days a week and absolutely love what I do. Every day is a school day and you just never know what you're going to spot.

"When I was asked onto The Bidding Room, I was really surprised but also thrilled as I am a huge fan of the show. We sell a lot of vintage and quirky items from my shop as I love unusual curiosities so it was great to be able to share one with the dealers."

Ms O'Loughlin is set to appear on the show on Wednesday, March 13, and brought in a cast iron treadle dental polisher.

The item was so big that it needed three people to carry it with dealers Ian Humphries, James Gooch, Jo Roberts, Adi Higham and Jacqui Harris showing an interest in the antique.

Ms O'Loughlin said: "It was such a wonderful experience. I felt a bit nervous when I first arrived but as soon as I met the production team, I was made to feel completely at ease.

"I met Nigel Havers and then auctioneer Simon Bower who valued my item before I went through to the dealers who were really lovely. I am quite experienced as a dealer myself so I felt very prepared to sell my item.

"I'm not going to give too much away but everyone has been really supportive both on the show and outside it. My customers have been especially thrilled for me and keep trying to find out whether I sold the item."
