A DRIVER has spoken of her anger after being slapped with a £100 parking fine after getting stuck in a gridlocked car park just before Christmas.

Sue Armour appealed the "totally unfair" fine after getting trapped in "nose to tail" traffic at Crossley Retail Park in Kidderminster for almost two hours on December 22, but was unsuccessful.

The 64-year-old driver from Malvern, who was driving a vulnerable child to school in Kidderminster, parked on the G24-operated car park and went to Costa and the shops with her PA to "kill time" before picking the student up.

She parked up just after 9am, and returned to her car between half past 11 and quarter to 12 to leave the car park, within the three-hour free parking limit.

However, she ended up waiting around an hour and 45 minutes in traffic at the car park, which wasn't moving.

Mrs Armour said: "It seemed like forever. I didn't think we would ever get out of there. I thought we'd be spending Christmas in there at this rate.

"It should have been a nice couple of hours. It was just carnage to be honest. It was so stressful."

Mrs Armour isn't the only one who was hit with a fine that day. We previously reported how another driver, teacher Natalie Minaker, received a parking fine after being unable to leave the same car park on the day.

After the appeal was rejected, Mrs Arnold decided to pay the fine, which was reduced to £60 for early payment.

She added: "I also appealed the fine and lost, and agree it is totally unfair. How many more people have been affected? It certainly means I will never visit this retail park again at peak times".

G24 has yet to respond to the Shuttle's request for comment.
