CCTV has captured the moment a man took a charity box from behind the counter of a shop.

Shop owner Donna Leigh Hudson says she's "gutted" money raised for Kidderminster's Happy Staffie Rescue has been taken.

The incident happened last Tuesday (March 12) at 5.15pm, but staff at Donna Leigh Saddlery didn't realise the box had been taken until Saturday (March 16).

She estimates that between £70 and £100 was inside the charity box at the time.

Donna said around 16 security cameras are placed around her saddlery and animal feeds store at the Meadow Mill Industrial Estate in Kidderminster.

Donna said: "All our customers are brilliant. They are lovely. I couldn't believe that someone who came into the shop would have taken it.

"It was on Saturday when I realised. I was just thinking has it dropped on the floor, we were just searching everywhere thinking somebody wouldn't steal it".

Donna was in the animal feed shed at the time of the incident. She shared footage of the incident with customers on her Facebook page.

The footage shows a man looking around the shop, leaning over the counter to reach for the charity box before leaving the store with it.

She added: "It was really upsetting. It's for a good charity. I was really gutted.

"There was a lot of money in there unfortunately because I changed the small change into notes.

"A rough estimate - between £70 to £100".

She says she will be sending the footage to the police and reporting the incident.
