GREEN-fingered youngsters from St Bartholomew’s Primary School got their hands dirty when they helped to plant a tree.
The amber leaf tree was planted as part of the school’s plan to regenerate and redevelop parts of its grounds for natural wildlife.
The children were given a helping hand by workers from JSP Timber Engineering Ltd, in South Wales.
The company is part of the Tree Appeal, which helps organisations reduce their environmental footprints by planting native British broad-leaved trees.
Sue Helps, headteacher, said: “Our school is at the beginning of a journey to enhance the extensive site by planting trees and creating areas for attracting wildlife.
“This initiative gives our project a wonderful boost and ensures the children are involved in a practical way to improve their school.”
