A DECISION on whether a pub landlord can use his popular offbeat vehcicle to drop customers between two Bewdley pubs has been deferred.

Paul Glover-Winfield applied for a licence to use his tuk tuk - a South East Asian motor vehicle - to ferry customers from the Cock and Magpie to the Hop Pole Inn.

Wyre Forest District Council’s Licensing and Environmental Committee met at the Civic Centre, Stourport, last Friday to consider the application but deferred it until the next meeting, on October 30.

Mr Glover-Winfield, who owns both pubs, set up the free service in June because of the lack of parking spaces at the Hop Pole.

He was forced to stop using the tuk tuk on the orders of Wyre Forest District Council as it was classed as private hire.

People who booked a table at the Hop Pole would meet him at the Cock and Magpie 30 minutes before their dinner reservations for a ride in the tuk tuk.
