A VILLAGE bonfire night with a twist is being held to raise funds for the new build of Cookley Parish Hall and Social Club.

Lisa Jones, organiser, explained that they were holding a Guy "Fawke-Caster" competition for all those who felt let down by the promise of a long, hot summer.

She added: “It could be Shifali, Michael Fish, Fred Talbot, Sian Lloyd, Martin Davies - anyone connected with predicting that ‘barbecue summer.’”

She said entries must be made out of flammable, non toxic material and would be paraded around the playing fields during the competition.

She added: “The winning ‘Guy‘ will then be picked to go on top of the bonfire and given a very warm send off.”

All groups are welcome to enter. For more information contact either Joanne or Lisa Jones on 01562 850501 or 01562 850356.

The event will be held on Friday, November 6, at 7.30pm at Cookley playing fields.
