A KIDDERMINSTER night club receptionist was sacked by her boss after being accused of making a Facebook entry which, he said, made him look stupid, Birmingham Employment Tribunal was told.

Diana Power, of Foley Park, Kidderminster had been employed by T&J Entertainment Ltd, which ran the former DY10 night club in Dixon Street, Kidderminster.

Miss Power said in a statement to the tribunal - she did not attend the hearing - that Christopher Stewart helped run the nightclub, through his firm, with Adam Wilcox as the DJ but following a confrontation with Mr Stewart over the Facebook entry, Miss Power complained she had been dismissed.

She made a compensation claim for unfair dismissal. Full details of the Facebook entry were not revealed.

T&J Entertainment was said to have been evicted from the Dixon Street premises by the landlord and Mr Stewart and Mr Wilcox then formed a new firm, called Utopia C&A Ltd, on the same Dixon Street site.

Mr Wilcox opposed Miss Power’s claims, which included unpaid wages and holiday pay. Mr Stweart did not attend.

Tribunal judge, Charles Saunby, said the tribunal decision was that Miss Power had been unfairly dismissed.

She was awarded a total of £616 but her claim for unpaid wages and holiday pay were rejected because of a lack of evidence.

Mr Saunby said that Utopia was responsible for paying Miss Power the £616 because it had taken over T&J Entertainment.

Mr Saunby said Mr Stewart regarded the Facebook entry made him look stupid, blamed Miss Power and unfairly dismissed her.

“The entry did not justify dismissal,” said Mr Saunby. He pointed out that a new nightclub at Dixon Street was not connected with DY10.
