A TEENAGER who survived a car crash which killed her brother and father is helping organise a fund-raising show for the charity that supported her through her grief.

Emma Thacker, 17, is generating cash for Noah’s Ark Trust with the Showstoppers concert at Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday, May 15.

She is being helped by singer, Beth Dunn - a former schoolfriend at Holy Trinity in Kidderminster.

Miss Dunn will perform at the concert alongside Russell Painter, Sara Weaver and Mike Christie, ex-member of pop-operatic group, G4.

Miss Thacker was 15 when she was a passenger in a car that left the road and collided with a tree on the A456 near Hodgehill Nurseries in October, 2007.

Her 10-year-old brother, Matty and father, John, 43, who was driving, died in the accident.

Miss Thacker said: “I’m really pleased to be involved with the Showstoppers concert because Noah's Ark Trust have given me the most amazing support since my dad and brother died.

“With their help, I have been able to rebuild my life and to look forward to the future. I now understand that my feelings are normal and also how to manage my grief.

“I was lucky enough to go on the Noah's Ark Camp and having fun again with other children and young people who were also bereaved made a huge difference. I no longer felt alone.”

Noah’s Ark Trust volunteers work on a one-to-one basis with youngsters aged five to 18, who have experienced the death of a parent, relative or someone close.

At the concert, a barbershop group from Prince Henry’s High School in Evesham will also be singing, joined by students from Miss Dunn’s school of performing arts, Super Troupers.

The evening will feature popular songs from a variety of genres and will end with traditional flag waving and a proms-style chorus.

Tickets are available from the town hall or by calling Chris Dunn on 01384 872299.
