WITNESSES and information are being sought following a serious assault on a man on Kidderminster’s Rifle Range Nature Reserve.

The incident happened between 1am and 3am last Thursday, on the nature reserve when the victim, in his late teens, was attacked by another man and left with injuries to his head and neck.

He attended Kidderminster Hospital the following day but was not detained.

Police are carrying out house-to-house enquiries on the Rifle Range housing estate and are keen to hear from anyone who might have seen two young men walking from the estate towards the nature reserve between 1am and 3am on Thursday.

They are believed to have taken a route from Victoria Place on to Jubilee Drive North, Avon Road, the alley beside the Musketeer pub, which leads to Birchen Coppice School, and then on to the reserve.

Officers also want people to contact them if they saw anybody walking alone from the direction of the reserve between 1am and 3am that night.

Det Insp Dean Jones, of Kidderminster CID, said: “This was a nasty assault, which was very traumatic for the victim. We need the public’s help and I would urge anyone who either saw or knows anything that may help our investigation to get in touch with us immediately.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Kidderminster CID on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident reference 534-S-010710, or ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Police arrested a man on Friday in connection with the assault and he has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
