A VISUAL survey of Offmore Farm estate, Kidderminster, was undertaken on November 9 by Comberton & Offmore Action Group and Disability Action Wyre Forest.
Rosemary Bishop, chairman of Comberton & Offmore Action Group, said: “We identified a shortfall in pedestrian access points on the estate, in particular a lack of drop-kerbs that are a necessity for disabled and elderly residents.”
More than 20 issues have been identified and the majority have been reported directly to Worcestershire County Council and can be viewed on www.fixmystreet.com. Also identified was the potential danger to visually impaired people using the zebra crossing in Tennyson Way.
Mark Lawley, chairman of Disability Action Wyre Forest, said: “The crossing is a potential death trap for blind people.”
A follow-up survey will be taking place and people interested in this can contact Rosemary Bishop on 07905529081.
Mr Lawley added this was a pilot survey and the organisations were "disappointed in the findings but not surprised."
The information will be part of Disability Action’s Access Census project in 2011.
