A FREE practical information session for unpaid and family carers is to be held in Kidderminster.

Worcestershire County Council's carers' unit has organised Dementia Awareness sessions throughout the county.

Kidderminster’s will be delivered by Age UK between 10am and 2pm on Monday, November 21 at the town’s library.

Many people look after an adult who is ill, disabled or frail and the practical sessions are designed to be useful to those in caring roles.

As well as picking up helpful skills, carers are likely to meet other carers with similar responsibilities, providing an opportunity to talk with others who might experience similar situations and concerns.

Rachel Fowler, the county council's carers' unit manager, said: "Family and unpaid carers need the opportunity to find out what support is available to them and the person they care for.

“Carers benefit from the range of sessions we provide, as they are designed to support with the practical and emotional aspects of being a carer.

“Carers tell us the sessions are all extremely valuable as they gain new skills and knowledge but it also gives them an opportunity to meet with other carers and share experiences, knowledge and solutions."

Carers interested in attending the free sessions should contact the carers' unit on 0800 389 2896 to book a place or email carers@worcestershire.gov.uk
