KIDDERMINSTER Library users will have the chance to discuss proposals to move Worcestershire County Council staff into the top-floor gallery.

Plans could see the art space and Steinway grand piano moved to the library’s first and ground floors to make way for offices housing 90 desks and 139 staff from adult and social care and children’s services.

An “engagement event” will take place in the library next week - Monday, April 23, until Friday, April 27. A display will highlight proposals, including drawings of how the building’s layout could change and provide comment cards.

County council officers will also be on hand to answer questions on Tuesday, April 24, 10am until noon, Wednesday, April 25, 2pm until 4pm and Thursday, April 26, 5pm until 7pm.

Kathy Kirk, strategic libraries and learning manager, said: “We want to engage with library users and explain to them our plans. It is important to stress these are proposals only and no decisions have been taken.

“We want to be open and transparent about this and so want anyone who has an interest to come along to see the display and tell us their thoughts.”
