After her success in winning the coveted Pop Icons ‘best female’ title in March 2011, Bewdley School‘s year 11 student Lauren Alexandra [Wardle] has been asked to be an ambassador for the Worcestershire Voices & Visions organised competition which is about to get underway for 2012.

“Winning in the competition last year was the catalyst for so many performing opportunities over the last eighteen months” explained Lauren. “The organisers gave us such a wonderful experience, with everything from choreography and performance support, to the amazing stage with lights, smoke and theatre packed with cheering audience!”

Lauren has been invited to speak about her experience in the competition, and what this has led to since, with Andrew Marston at BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester on Thursday 4th October, 2pm.

She will also take part in the Boot Camp stages offering her advice for this year’s competition hopefuls and take to the stage once again for a guest performance at the finals.

The Pop Icons 2012 competition starts this weekend (06/10/12) when young people from all over Worcestershire will be auditioning at local theatres and venues.

Around 75 singers will be selected to come along to Boot Camp where they will take part in workshops to develop their vocal skills and performance techniques. Talented finalists will be selected to perform for judges at the final which is taking place at the Artrix, Bromsgrove, on 2nd November, where this year’s winners will be crowned.
