A FACEBOOK group has been set up in memory of Bewdley murder victim Betty Yates.

By this morning, 523 people had joined the page “RIP Betty Yates, the best teacher there was”.

Members of the group, which organised a vigil for the former teacher yesterday, have been leaving their tributes.

Jane O'Shaughnessy said: “RIP Mrs Yates you taught me and my brothers and sisters at St Johns First School. You were a great teacher and had a heart of gold. You will never be forgotten.”

Gillian Price said: “My thoughts are with her family and friends RIP Betty.”

A message from Shanice Barse Gyal said: “I'm so sorry to everyone who knew Betty I just found out what happened and she seemed like a lovely kind hearted women.”

The site describes itself as “A page to share memories of the wonderful Betty Yates.”

Jon Broomfield said: “Every now and then you come across a person that has a massive impact on your life. For me it was Mrs Yates.

”This should never of happened especially to someone who has done so much for other people.”

A video in memory of Mrs Yates has also been uploaded to the page.

Yesterday, about 60 people attended the vigil set up by the group’s organisers.
