A CLEANING firm will be dusting off Bramble’s cobwebs to ensure it is squeaky clean once restored.

Father and son team Mark and Joshua Humphries, of the Cleaning Faerie, have offered their services to the canal boat appeal.

As well as cleaning and scrubbing, they will also sand down and paint the historic vessel once it is restored.

Mark, who owns the business with Tricia Edwards, said: “We feel that a new Bramble would be a good tourist attraction for visitors to the area and also an educational adventure for children and adults alike in the local community.”

Mark has also donated £70 to the appeal and Joshua has recently joined Stourport Forward, which owns Bramble, as a volunteer.

“We know it’s not a lot, as we are a new company, but we hope it helps with the fund,” Mark said. “Industrial heritage is a particular interest of mine, having been around boats, especially our waterways, a great deal in my younger days.

“I have also taken an interest in the development of Stourport Canal Basins over the years since I moved to the area.

“I think it has a really good feel about it when strolling around. It is definitely underrated as an attraction. People outside the area just don’t seem to know it exists.”.

Pauline Annis, chairman of Stourport Forward, said she was “extremely grateful” for the cleaning offer and donation.

She added: “The combination of their monetary donation and practical help will make a big difference to the appeal.

“Joshua joined Stourport Forward as a volunteer recently and has already been a great help with staffing our heritage rooms as well as the help that he and his family have so kindly given through their company.”
