FATHER and son Joshua and Mark Humphries will be putting their best feet forward for the Bramble Appeal.

The duo, of cleaning firm the Cleaning Faerie, will be taking part in the Severn Way Walk on September 15 to raise cash for the restoration of the canal boat.

The walk has been organised by Bewdley and Stourport Rotary Clubs and is a 225-mile sponsored charity walk alongside the River Severn.

Mark and Joshua will be walking 16 miles from Bewdley to Worcester.

Mark, joint owner of the cleaning firm with Tricia Edwards, said: “I have done many personal physical challenges raising money for various charities over the years and it is really good that we can actually raise money for something much more local, try and create a bit of awareness about the Bramble Appeal and stretch our limbs at the same time.

“We would have loved to have done the whole distance as a personal challenge but unfortunately time does not permit at present.”

Pauline Annis, chairman of Stourport Forward, said she was “extremely grateful” to the pair.

“It is really encouraging to see their enthusiasm,” she added. “We wish them good luck on the walk and hope that local people will sponsor them.

“We still desperately need more donations to help us to restore Bramble to her original condition and are so grateful to all the people who have helped us so far in so many ways.”

There will be a raffle for the appeal and an opportunity to sponsor Joshua and Mark during the show Can you keep a Secret at Stourport Civic Centre at 7.30pm next Wednesday.

People can also sponsor the pair at mydonate.bt.com/charities/ severnwaywalk2012 or by calling 07917 326561 or Mark on 01562 631581.

People can sponsor Joshua at The Old Ticket Office in York Street on Saturday, September 8 from noon until 4pm.

Meanwhile, The Hollybush pub will be holding a black tie evening for landlady Maggie Smith tomorrow and 50 per cent of the proceeds will go to the Bramble Appeal.
