KIDDERMINSTER renewable energy company Eco2Solar has secured a hat-trick of contracts with Mansell Construction to install solar PV on 101 new homes throughout the West Midlands.

Eco2Solar has been appointed to install a series of solar energy systems on new homes at the Edgbaston Square development, Marlfields in Redditch and Eastern Gateway in West Bromwich.

One of the biggest projects is at Marlfields in Redditch for Redditch Co-operative Homes, part of the Accord Group.

The renewable energy firm will install solar energy systems on 79 sustainable Norwegian timber-frame houses at Marlfields. It comprises three 250 watt solar panels and one inverter on 48 homes and four 250 watt solar panels and one inverter on three homes.

The installations at Marlfields are expected to produce more than 57,337 units of green energy every year.

All electricity generated will be used on site by individual homeowners, helping to reduce energy costs and provide a sustainable energy source.

Other projects will see Eco2Solar install solar energy systems on 29 affordable homes at the £7.3 million Eastern Gateway project and 22 solar energy systems at Edgbaston Square, which will generate 12.9 tonnes of green energy every year.

Eco2Solar has been working in partnership with Mansell over the past two years, having completed other solar energy schemes at Blackthorn Road and Tenacre Lane in Dudley and at Manor Close, Elm Close and Blakenhurst in Evesham.

Simon Liversage, operations manager at Mansell’s West Midlands regional office, said: “Mansell has a longstanding reputation for constructing sustainable communities.”
