I WOULD like to thoroughly endorse the views expressed by Kevin Pawley recently on the Shuttle Opinion page concerning the possible closure by subterfuge of the Kidderminster waste tip at Hoobrook.

When the recycling plant was first closed, I suspected that the county council might try to close this site on the pretext of demolishing the animal processing building on site, hoping that when public concern died down, they could then fail to reopen it.

The site has been closed for more than six weeks now with no sign of the demolition taking place.

This was always a very busy and efficient site, serving the needs of Kidderminster residents and preventing the widescale problem of fly-tipping, which is much more likely if this site disappears.

The Stourport waste site is always very busy during the summer months and will become a traffic nightmare if the Hoobrook facility does not reopen.

Come on Kidderminster residents, don’t allow the council to close this facility by default!

Write/email to the county council/ your local county councillor/local MP to make your feelings known and help to stop this continual reduction of local services to local residents.
