I AM writing in response to the concerns raised in The Shuttle Opinion pages about anti-social problems in the Market Street area of Kidderminster in the vicinity of the library and college.

I would like to assure you that these concerns are being taken seriously and not ignored. When this issue was raised I met with representatives from the police and NW Community Safety to discuss how the situation could be addressed.

At that first meeting we put together an action plan and the next step is to organise a meeting with representatives of all the interested parties in the area to progress things further.

Unfortunately there is no quick solution. to this problem. Market Street is a busy, well-used area of town and any plan we come up with to try and make things better must not be detrimental to nearby businesses, shoppers or people’s access to the public buildings situated there – but I can guarantee we are on the case.
