I WAS in Kidderminster on July 2 and noticed a car in the Bullring in the disabled space and the passenger side window side open, with the disabled badge clearly on show, I was concerned about the badge and any contents could be stolen.

I rang the police and was told by the police operator they only come out to life and death incidents.

I said I wasn’t happy as there were a few dubious characters in the area and was swiftly told “Not to judge anyone by their appearance”

The operator then said she would send someone, but didn’t know how long or where they were coming from and told me not to bother waiting, but I told her it was my moral obligation and would wait until the police or owners of the vehicles returned.

Meanwhile, my husband went to the town hall to see of there were any enforcement officers available to keep their eye on things, but after enquiring, was told they didn’t know where they were and couldn’t contact anyone.

I then received a call back from the police to say the police were attending from Kidderminster, but before they arrived the owner had returned and we explained what we had done.

I know the police budget is very tight but the public is not getting the service they deserve and the police are getting very blinkered in their attitude.

In the past the public were encouraged to report incidents to the police, but as they have no police officers available are we to turn a blind eye to what is going on in society. Perhaps we should all go around with blinkers on.
