Following the picture of myself with Dr Richard Taylor standing by the newly installed railings down to the river on Severnside North Bewdley in the Shuttle on March 26, I would just like to point out that the responsibility for maintaining the quay wall and railings is the sole responsibility of the Worcestershire County Council except when the flood barrier is in situ and it then becomes the responsibility of the Environment Agency.
The riparian rights held by the property owners along this road only include the mooring and fishing rights and not anything else connected to the quay wall or road etc.
It was the WCC’s fault that we had had rusty non-matching railings there since 2006 but finally the EA agreed to have some matching ones made up.
They were made up and installed by a very good firm from Ludlow.
