IN reply to J Edwards (Shuttle 10th September) I did indeed vote for Jeremy Corbyn for Leader of the Labour Party and Tom Watson for Deputy.

I knew Jeremy as a fellow councillor in Haringey between 1982 and 1983 as well as at least two future Tory MPs and Minsters who served on the same council.

Jeremy has the same principles now as he did then, and so do I.

I am a socialist, committed to having a new Labour Government elected in 2020 on an anti-austerity manifesto.

I fought the May 2015 General Election as Labour Candidate in Solihull on a manifesto committed to Trident, staying in Europe and NATO. Therefore, that is Party Policy.

Jeremy will get much support for public ownership of gas, electric, water and the railways, as well as tackling the banks and bankers, and those who evade or avoid tax.

Labour will chase and apprehend companies and individuals who do not pay tax.

So, I trust J Edwards is content?

I have never shied away from spelling out where I stand in politics ā€“ Iā€™m on the left.
