So Wyre Forest Council in their wisdom are to remove the free day parking concession. What does it take to make our representatives see the town is dying on its feet and a move such as this can only make that situation worse?
There are few enough reasons to visit the high street. The general atmosphere is one of decline and decay. The disastrously mismanaged new paving succeeded in closing the few shops which offered any interest and the likelihood of new entrants seems very slim.
I visited Ludlow and the contrast could not have been more telling.
There were a large number of wellmaintained parking spaces and I parked for four hours for a very modest £1.10. The town has a large number of independent retailers and there was a vibrancy and up-beat feel.
Come on Wyre Forest show some of the imagination which has been so lacking in the past and abolish all parking charges for a trial period and see what a difference it would make.
