I WAS astonished to read in Dr Richard Taylor’s column that the Acute Hospitals NHS Trust are launching ‘Patient Safety Walkabouts’.
One of the reasons that Kidderminster Healthcare NHS Trust was successful was because the chief executive, and both executive and non-executive members of the trust board ‘walked the floor’ every week, and all were known to members of the staff throughout the Hospital.
It is amazing that there has to be an ‘initiative’ to carry out what has always been a basic management tool in any well- managed organisation.
