OVER 12 months ago at our local PACT meeting, the state of the footpaths on Aggborough Crescent in Kidderminster was discussed.

After some time a survey sheet was sent around the residents, telling of some sections that were to be relayed and asking for comments on other sections that required attention.

I took the trouble to walk around the Crescent and discovered that the sections listed did indeed need replacing, but they were far from being the only sections needing work, nor indeed were they the worst sections.

I received an acknowledgment from the councillor who had sent out the survey and then nothing much happened until now.

Workmen have arrived and marked up only the original sections and these are being ripped up and replaced at the time of writing this letter.

At least two of the contractors have commented to me that they are walking past worse sections than the ones that they are repairing.

Perhaps they will be done next year, although with all the cutbacks I doubt that will happen. Or will it take someone being injured to get the rest of the paths done?

That the whole Crescent and Malvern Drive were not done all at once is bad enough, but to add insult to injury last month almost brand new corners of the paths at the mini island junction of Hoo Road, College Road and Primrose Way which have only been there since the college site was redeveloped and were in fine condition, were ripped up and relaid and it was not connected with other work as this would only affect two corners not eight.
