MY wife and I recently visited Kidderminster on holiday from our home in south east Spain. My daughter took advantage of Dad’s presence and booked her car in for it’s annual MOT with Wyre Forest District Council’s testing centre.

This centre follows the pattern we are used to in Spain where vehicles can only be tested at Government centres – there are no repairs available and so no temptation to fail a vehicle to generate repairs income.

I accompanied my daughter in her 12-year-old Laguna. We were met by a courteous member of the team and advised to come back within the hour. The car failed on some small items and the way the tester gave this “bad news” to my daughter restored my faith in human nature! A perfect gentleman!

After a trip to the local car parts store and a couple of hours of my DIY time we booked the car back in for re-test which it duly passed.

I would just like to say a sincere thank you to the tester, Mr Simmonds, and staff at the council offices in Green Street for making a possible traumatic occasion a pleasant and reasonable costing experience.
