AN ANNUAL event for young people with learning difficulties to help to plan the transition in their lives from school to young adult lives will take place in Kidderminster.

“Life beyond school” will give youngsters the opportunity to find out about education, leisure, daytime activities, housing, benefits and more alongside a marketplace of services.

It will be held at Kidderminster Youth House, Bromsgrove Street, on Thursday, March 14, from 5pm until 7pm.

The event will also be a chance for parents and carers to meet providers and share experiences with those who may have been through the process already.

Jayne Hipkiss, early intervention family support worker, said: “It is important for young people with additional needs to be able to fund out what they can access and be involved in making decisions about what they want to do.

“The event will give them the opportunity to explore this in a safe environment with the support of people they can trust.”

Life beyond school has been run for the past five years by the Wyre Forest area support, guidance and skills service. For more information call the council’s young adults team on 01905 765607.
