A BEWDLEY salon has won a place at the western regional finals of the hairdressing industry’s most fashion-led live hairdressing competition.

In the first round, hundreds of photographic images from across the country were judged by the hairdressing industries most influential names, but Abacus Hair Studio fought off stiff competition and were successfully chosen to take part in the high energy regional finals being held on Monday (April 20) at the Chateau Impney Hotel, Droitwich.

Lucy Potter, Allison Ford, Frankie Harmon, and Paul Mills are part of a very excited salon teams who are all overjoyed with having broken through to the next level of the competition. The team will now join 60 other salons from across the western region in a bid to make it through to the grand final to compete for the coveted L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2015 and L'Oréal Men’s Image Award.

But it's not the High Street salon's first rodeo as they won in 2010.

Salon owner Allison Ford said: "We are ecstatic at being selected for the L’Oréal Colour Trophy and Men’s Image Award after winning in 2010. We are full of excitement and anticipation for the challenge ahead of us."

The next stage of the competition will put Abacus through their paces as they will have to create a live model look that demonstrates an awareness for Autumn/Winter 2015/16 hair and fashion trends as outlined in the brief, the model look must be original, modern and inspirational. The team of judges are looking for a trend-setting, show stopping total look that can inspire clients and hairdressers. Each salon team will only have 30 tense minutes to bring their model look to life and demonstrate that they are the region’s most talented and creative hairdressers to a panel of judges consisting of acclaimed hairdressers.

Abacus could be one of just six salons to walk away with a place in the industries longest running, glamorous awards event the 60th annual L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final on June 1 at Battersea Park, London.

This stage leaves them just one step away from scooping the unparalleled prize of national media exposure and glamorous fashion shoots and much more.
